SLINGER, Wis. — NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ty Majeski won the Slinger Nationals for the fourth time on Tuesday night.
The Wisconsin native became the sixth driver to win the event at least four times. He earned $20,000 for winning the 46th edition of the classic super late model race on the quarter-mile track.
Rain came on lap 60 with Johnny Sauter on the point. After a delay of more than an hour, the race resumed with Majeski, who started 12th, passed Sauter for the point on lap 67.
Despite several restarts, Majeski led the rest of the distance for the victory.
“I unloaded Monday understanding where I got beat three weeks ago in the ASA race when the 28 car (Cole Butcher) was really good,” Majeski said. “I was really focusing on turn one, where I thought I was getting beat. My focus was there on Monday. The speed was there, but we never really got the car the way I wanted it, or what I felt like I needed to win.
“We put our heads together Monday night and came up with a plan. Geared that stuff up this morning and the car picked up speed and drivability and was pretty much exactly what I wanted tonight.”
Nason finished second.
Andrew Morrissey finished third, while Derek Kraus won the last chance qualifier and advanced to fourth in the main event.
Casey Johnson finished fifth.
