TULARE, Calif. — There may not be a racer who loves a track more than Corey Day loves Thunderbowl Raceway. Friday’s Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing return to the Tulare bullring further exemplified that.
Going from seventh-to-third in the FK Rod Ends Dash and then quickly scampering from third-to-first in the opening six laps of the A-Main, the Clovis, California, native made it look as easy as ever en route to his fourth-career triumph at the track.
He’s now won back-to-back High Limit events at the Central Valley oval to go along with a 2023 Dennis Roth Classic win with NARC and the 2023 Trophy Cup finale.
Friday’s win marked Day’s 15th career triumph with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing – placing him third all-time alongside Kyle Larson at the ripe age of 20-years-old. Only full-timers Rico Abreu (29) and Aaron Reutzel (16) have won more than the Hendrick Motorsports teammates.
Running a limited sprint car schedule due to his NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series commitments, Day has still managed to earn six wins in 19 410 events with Jason Meyers Racing.
Four of those have came with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing, only outdone by Aaron Reutzel (9) and Kyle Larson (6) this year.
Day will make what is expected to be his final start of 2026 with the series on Saturday at Placerville Speedway, where he was a 2022 NARC winner.
Following the No. 14 to the stripe on Friday at Tulare was another California native as Rio Oso’s Landon Brooks took the Hamilton Racing w/ Tiner-Hirst No. 21L from ninth-to-second.
After earning his first-career High Limit top-10 on Thursday at Santa Maria, his runner-up at the Thunderbowl was easily a new career-best for the local ace.
Reutzel filled the final spot on the podium – his 16th series podium of 2026 – after leading the opening five laps of the feature.
As breu dealt with more misfortune, the Ridge & Sons Racing, PowerPlus No. 87 now leads the High Limit championship chase by 65 points over Giovanni Scelzi and the Spire Motorsports, Chili’s Grill & Bar No. 77.
Indiana’s Tyler Courtney brought the Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink No. 7bc home in fourth place while another California local, Suisun City’s Chance Grasty, completed the top five in the No. x1 machine.
