WHEATLAND, Mo. — For the first time in nearly two decades, the USAC National Sprint Cars are set to return to Lucas Oil Speedway.
The Rod End Supply Diamond Dirt Duel will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 with a 30-lap feature paying $6,000 to the winner.
“We’re excited to have the USAC National Sprint Cars back for the first time since the year Lucas Oil Speedway opened in 2006,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. “Open-wheel racing always is a hit with our fans and this should be one that we all will look forward to.”
Logan Seavey of Sutter, Calif., is the defending AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car champion.
The three-eighths-mile, semi-banked dirt oval previously hosted the series just once back in September 2006 with Josh Wise scoring the victory in Tony Stewart Racing’s No. 20.
The first weekend in September presents a double race weekend for the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship on both sides of the Mississippi River. On Friday night, Sept. 5, the series returns to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois.
