MONTEREY, Calif. — In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Laguna Seca, the 2027 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will present “70 Years of Laguna Seca: Legends of Motorsport,” a sweeping tribute to the people, machines, innovation, art, design and culture that have defined the automotive and motorcycle worlds across seven generations at Laguna Seca.
Rather than celebrating a single marque, the 2027 Reunion will honor the extraordinary breadth of motorsport history that has unfolded at Laguna Seca since the circuit opened in 1957.
Throughout the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Legends of Motorsport will come to life as a living exhibition, pairing significant race cars and motorcycles with the drivers, riders, designers, engineers, team owners and personalities who made them legendary. Together, they will tell the stories of seven decades of competition, innovation, and unforgettable moments at one of the world’s most revered racing circuits.
Legends of Motorsport will be brought to life through a series of featured pillars that celebrate the many dimensions of motorsport and its influence across generations. Racing Legends and Drivers will reunite celebrated competitors with the machines and moments that defined their careers; Collectors and Influential Personalities will showcase the visionaries who have preserved, championed and shaped automotive history; Art & Photography will capture motorsport through the eyes of renowned artists and image-makers; Designers and Builders will recognize the creative minds, engineers and craftspeople responsible for some of the world’s most iconic machines; and Fashion & Lifestyle will explore how motorsport’s distinctive style, energy and culture have influenced life far beyond the racetrack.
From sports cars and prototypes to INDYCAR, Can-Am, Trans-Am, IMSA, MotoGP and Historic Racing, Laguna Seca has welcomed many of motorsport’s greatest names and most influential machines since its inception. Its challenging 2.238-mile circuit and legendary Zanardi Corkscrew have provided the stage for victories, rivalries and defining moments that have become part of motorsport history.
The 2027 celebration will extend beyond competition to explore the influence motorsport has had on automotive and motorcycle design, engineering, fashion, art and popular culture. Special displays, demonstrations, exhibitions and appearances will connect the machines to the people and stories behind them, creating an immersive journey through 70 years of Laguna Seca.
“WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca’s history cannot be told through one manufacturer, one era or even one form of motorsport,” said Mel Harder, General Manager and President of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. “For 70 years, this circuit has brought together extraordinary drivers and riders, groundbreaking machines, passionate fans and some of the most important names in motorsport. Legends of Motorsport gives us the opportunity to bring those stories together and celebrate not only what happened here, but the people, creativity and culture that made Laguna Seca what it is today.”
“What makes the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion so extraordinary is the collective passion, knowledge and relationships that go into creating it each year,” said Bruce Canepa, Chairman of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and Advisory Council. “The Advisory Council brings together individuals who have dedicated their lives to motorsport, and their expertise and connections are instrumental in helping us continually raise the bar, both in the marques we celebrate and the overall experience we deliver. For Laguna Seca’s 70th anniversary, we have an incredible opportunity to draw upon that collective history and bring together legendary machines and the people who made them famous. Our goal is always to make each Reunion even more memorable than the last, and 2027 presents an extraordinary opportunity to do just that.”
The celebration will span generations, allowing guests to experience historically significant machines alongside the personalities who raced, designed, engineered and championed them. From the earliest days of Laguna Seca to the technological sophistication of modern motorsport, the exhibition will illustrate how racing has continually pushed boundaries while inspiring generations of enthusiasts.
Since opening in November 1957, Laguna Seca has evolved from a purpose-built replacement for the Pebble Beach Road Races into one of the most recognizable racing circuits in the world. Its history includes legendary races, iconic competitors and machines that have helped shape both American and international motorsport.
