CONCORD, N.C. — Eight months of exciting moments, side-by-side battles and monumental victories end this weekend as the Super DIRTcar Series heads to North Carolina.
The Beasts of the Northeast will finish their 2026 season at The Dirt Track at Charlotte during the Dave Smith Motors World of Outlaws World Finals, Nov. 4-7.
Drivers kick off the event Wednesday, Nov. 4, with qualifying night, which sets the lineups for heat races Thursday and Friday. They return Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6, for a 30-lap feature paying $10,000 to win.
The best finish of each driver over the first two nights sets the heat race lineups for the season finale Saturday, Nov. 7, a 40-lap feature paying $15,000 to win that will crown the 2026 champion.
COMPLETE THE QUEST
Alex Yankowski, 22, of Covington Township, Pa., is trying to become the youngest champion in Super DIRTcar Series history. The record is held by Alan Johnson, who won the 2022 title at age 24. “Kid Rocket” enters the weekend with an 89-point lead over three-time and defending champion Mat Williamson after adding his 11th podium finish of the season and an 18th straight top-10 finish.
Yankowski has finished in the top 10 in six of his last seven starts at Charlotte and was second in last year’s season finale. He has finished in the top 10 in 10 of his 14 starts overall at the track. World Finals is also where he earned his first career Series win in 2021. A victory this weekend would be his ninth career Series win.
Williamson can still mathematically win the 2026 title after momentum from his win at Georgetown. The St. Catharines, Ontario, driver won the final event of last season at Charlotte and has five wins at the track.
If he wins at World Finals, he would tie Matt Sheppard and Tim Fuller for the most Big Block victories at the four-tenths-mile and reach his 41st series win.
PAYNE Vs. PHELPS
The battle for third in the Series standings is just as close. Jimmy Phelps holds a one-point advantage over Alex Payne. Phelps won the first World Finals in 2010 and again in 2019, and has five straight top-10 finishes at the track. He is searching for his third win of 2026 and 25th career victory.
Payne scored his first win at Charlotte last year but has three consecutive finishes outside the top 10 in Series events, though two of his last three Charlotte finishes are on the podium.
THE FIRST TIME?
Charlotte has produced multiple first-time winners, with Yankowski, Mathieu Desjardins and Tim Kerr each grabbing their first series checkered flag during World Finals. Jack Lehner and Felix Roy, separated by 23 points for fifth, are aiming to continue that trend.
Matt Sheppard leads all drivers with six victories at the four-tenths-mile and is searching for his 104th Series win. Mat Williamson is right behind him with five, and Tim Fuller, who won in 2023 and 2024, is searching for his 38th series win.
