BROWNSBURG, Ind. — For the sixth time this year, Tyler Roahrig claimed victory in a 500 Sprint Car Tour race.
While Roahrig was winning for a series best 16th time, Dakoda Armstrong claimed the 2025 championship with a fifth place finish.
Roahrig set fast time Saturday at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, but the redraw put Armstrong and Kody Swanson on the front row.
Armstrong led the first five laps chased by Swanson with Roahrig running in the third spot.
Roahrig made an inside pass coming off the fourth corner on the sixth circuit to pass both Swanson and Armstrong and assume the lead.
The first of two caution flags waved on lap 22 when Michael Lewis and Nathan Bryd got together in turn two.
By this point in time Armstrong had fallen back to the fifth spot with Roahrig being chased by Bobby Santos III and Jake Trainor.
Roahrig opened up a comfortable lead when the caution flag waved for a final time on lap 33 when Chase Locke slowed while running in the top ten.
At the finish it was Roahrig winning with Santos, Trainor, Swanson and Armstrong rounding out the to five.
Jackson Macenko finished sixth followed by Taylor Ferns, who started 15th in the 23 car field, with Jake McEfresh, Anthony Nocella and Donnie Adams Jr. rounding out the top ten.
Armstrong entered the final race of the season with the point lead over both Swanson and Roahrig.
It was Armstrong’s first 500 Sprint Car Tour championship.
Roahrig won the series race at IRP all five times it has competed at the track.
“It was a phenomenal season,” Roahrig said of his 2025 season with sponsorship from CB Fabricating. “We missed one race, but we has a great time this season.”
Armstrong said he expected to compete for a victory, but the car was too tight.
“We’ve been working on our speedway package,” he said. “We’ve been good at a lot of tracks; today we just missed it.”
Armstrong said he didn’t focus on the points until the final race of the year.
“I love oval track racing,” he said. “We wanted to win, but I’m glad we got the championship.”
Despite problems during the weekend, Brady Allum was crowned 2025 series rookie of the year.
“I’ve grown up around open wheel racing,” the North Carolina native said. “Some guys told us about the 500 Sprint Car Tour and we watched the Little 500.
“To learn you have to run against the best,” Allum said. “We learned so much this year. I’m looking forward to going back to the tracks next year.”
