The debut appearance of the NHRA Mission Food Drag Racing Series at South Georgia Motorsports Park was a record breaker in more ways than one.
A sellout crowd was on hand Sunday as Shawn Langdon and Jordan Vandergriff claimed memorable victories in the nitro categories.
Two days after making the fastest pass in NHRA history with his 345.00 MPH blast on Friday night, Langdon finished the job in emphatic fashion, beating No. 1 qualifier and his Kalitta Motorsports teammate, Doug Kalitta to the finish in a thrilling Top Fuel finale.
While it was Langdon’s 24th career victory, Funny Car driver Jordan Vandergriff collected his first career victory aboard his John Force Racing machine. The history-making victory came in only his fifth race, making him the 13th different driver to win a Top Fuel or Funny Car event in NHRA competition for John Force Racing.
