Honeycutt Handles Watkins Glen ARCA Foes

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point leader Kaden Honeycutt led the final 29 laps to win Friday’s ARCA Menards Series race at Watkins Glen Int’l.

With temperatures in the low 50s, Honeycutt set himself up for a two victory day by driving the No. 17 Toyota to 3.492-second triumph over Pinnacle Motorsports Chevrolet driver Carson Brown.

“The key was an amazing car. The car was phenomenal all day,” Honeycutt said. “It was a little free through the carousel and I think that was my fault, so I had to work on that. All of these guys do a great job. Thanks to Al Heinke.”

Honeycutt will start seventh in Friday afternoon’s Craftsman Truck Series race.

“There was some things that I needed to work on during Truck practice and I tried to put that out there for myself to work on during the ARCA race and I certainly did that,” Honeycutt said after his first ARCA triumph. “Looking forward to going to the Truck race.

“Awesome to win on a road course. I haven’t been really good at it at all. It is not my forte, so good to get that done for these guys.”

Honeycutt was the fourth driver to get his first ARCA victory this season.

Brown came home second, while Thomas Annunziata finished third in a Toyota fielded by Nitro Motorsports.

Gavan Boschele and Sam Corry completed the top five.

Isabella Robusto was sixth, while Andrew Ranger drove from 32nd to finish seventh in his first ARCA start since 2014.
