Callaway & Worsham Star In Ohio IHRA Drills

HEBRON, Ohio — Lee Callaway and Del Worsham posted quick times in the Nitro classes for the IHRA Spring Nationals at Darana Raceway, Hebron on Friday.

Callaway went down the drag strip in 3.055 seconds at 282.31 to lead Top Fuel qualifying with the race broadcast on SpeedSport 1. Gary Pritchett, winner of the first the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series race of the season at Benson, N.C., was second at 3.106 seconds and 274.06 mph. Kyle Satenstein rounded out the top three at 3.145 seconds and 275.40 mph.

Worsham’s Toyota Camry paced the Funny Car field with a 3.291-second pass at 272.23 mph. Jon Capps was next at 3.301 seconds and he had the fastest speed at 274.56 mph. Jack Wyatt was third at 3.312 seconds and 239.11 mph. Dale Creasy Jr., winner of the first two races of the season, was the first car that failed to qualify for eliminations.

Top Alcohol Dragster saw Joey Severance rise to the top with a 3.465-second run at 222.44 mph. Rich McPhillips was second quick with No. 3 qualifier Jamie Noonan with the fastest speed at 229.36 mph. Chip Beverett paced Top Alcohol Funny Car at 3.647 seconds and 211.76 mph. Phil Esz was second with the No. 3 qualifier again with the top speed. It was Mick Steele at 214.59 mph.

Jason Harris was No. 1 qualifier in Pro Mod with a 3.601-second run at 210.08 mph. Kye Kelley was second quick at 3.608 seconds and 203.34 mph. Dwayne Rice climbed to the top in Mountain Motor Pro Stock at 4.046 seconds and 177.44 mph. Jerry Tucker had the top speed at 179.07 mph.

Tony Scott kept his early-season hot streak going in IHRA Factory Pro Stock with his 4.993-second pass at 144.46 mph. Taylor Dietsch and Jason Dietsch were second and third. Ryan Hill claimed the top spot in Fuel Altered at 3.732 seconds and 214.69 mph with Dan Pettinato second.

Chris Smith was the quickest on two wheels with a 4.109-second run at 185.72 mph in Nitro Harley. Jason Leeper broke the two hundred barrier with his 200.27 mph top speed.

David Marshall set quick time of 4.733 seconds and 151.67 mph on the Snowmobiles. Anthony Mini had the fast time at 158.51 mph. Steve Comella got the No. 1 spot in the John Holt Hemi Showdown.
