Randy Martin Rides The Cushion To Double X Glory

CALIFORNIA, Mo. — Veteran sprint car racer Randy Martin rode the cushion to a popular 360 winged sprint car triumph Sunday night at Double X Speedway.

Martin started on the pole alongside Taylor Walton. Martin won the battle through turn one and opened a five-car-length lead over second.

Tyler Blank moved into second by lap five and set his sights Martin. A lap-seven caution for Blake Bowers would set the field single file behind Martin and Blank. On the restart, Martin would use the cushion to maintain his momentum while Blank had to deal with a hard charging Mile Paulus.

Blank would go to the low groove gaining on the leader with Paulus running the top shelf in third. Jack Wagner was also advancing through the field running fourth by the halfway point. Blank would continue to challenge the leader on the bottom with the veteran Martin continuing on the top shelf.

The lead duo battled for the duration as fans were treated to a classic match of the professor and his pupil as Blank grew up watching Martin make laps around Double X.

At the checkered flag, it was a popular win for Martin Racing as the crowd cheered him in victory lane.

Blank finished second, with Paulus, Samuel Wagner and Jack Wagner completing the top five.

James Nighswonger won the super stock feature and Tyler Potter topped the B modified main event.
