American sports car racing rising star Westin Workman, and American open-wheel 2024 USF2000 champion Simon Sikes are this week’s guests on The Pits Are Open with host Will Marotti.
Westin Workman is a rising star in American sports car racing, competing in the IMSA VP RACING SPORTSCAR CHALLENGE with Rafa Racing. At just 20, he captured 2024 MX-5 Cup Rookie of the Year honors, finishing 6th in the championship while scoring multiple podiums and wins, including thrilling victories at Sebring and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Before cars, he was a two-time national karting champion and won the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout scholarship to launch his pro career.
This season Westin won the Toyota GR Cup Championship and was the winner of the IMSA 3D Scholarship for 2027-2028. Off-track, Workman enjoys training, cars, and advancing through the racing ladder with relentless focus.
Simon Sikes is an American open-wheel race car driver who has progressed through the U.S. driver development ladder toward IndyCar. A standout in grassroots formula racing, Sikes captured the 2020 SCCA National Championship Runoffs in Formula F and the 2021 Runoffs in Formula Continental, along with the 2020 F1600 Championship Series title. He rose to national prominence by winning the 2023 USF2000 Championship with Pabst Racing, earning a scholarship to advance to USF Pro 2000. Known for consistency and technical feedback, Sikes has multiple wins and podiums in Road to Indy competition and continues developing as a top American open-wheel prospect. Recently, Simon coached Sebastian Garzon to the 2026 USF 2000 Championship.
