The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series contested a pair of signature events on consecutive nights at Texarkana 67 Speedway.
In a somewhat fitting fashion, Carson Macedo celebrated an emotional victory during Friday’s Jason Johnson Classic, while the series’ winningest driver, Buddy Kofoid topped the first Short Track Nationals run under World of Outlaws sanction.
Macedo, who drives the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41 sprint car, passed David Gravel late and won the race that celebrates his team’s founder, the late Jason Johnson. It was Macedo’s seventh victory of the season.
The following night, Kofoid ran down Macedo’s brother, Cole, to take the lead late in the race and win the 39th running of the Short Track Nationals.
It was Kofoid’s series best 17th win of the season, which also marked the winningest season in the history of Roth Motorsports.
