VENTURA, Calif. — Daison Pursley bounced back from a flip during midget practice to win Friday’s Ultimate Sprint Car Series feature at Ventura Raceway.
After competitive heat races that showcased multiple grooves and spirited passing, the 30-lap main event became a showcase for Pursley, who set fast time in round two of the midget practice session.
Starting outside the front row, Pursley controlled the race in clean air and managed restarts with steady composure, never allowing pressure from behind to disrupt his tempo.
Pursley held off Kaleb Montgomery, who started sixth, for the victory.
Making a rare non-winged sprint car start, World of Outlaws veteran Carson Macedo raced from 10th on the grid to finish third.
USAC racers Kevin Thomas Jr. and Ricky Lewis completed the top five.
The finish:
Daison Pursley, Kaleb Montgomery, Carson Macedo, Kevin Thomas Jr., Ricky Lewis, A.J. Bender, Cole Macedo, Mitchel Moles, David Gasper, Bob Newberry, Jake Andreotti, Jacob Tuttle, Bryan Whitley, Austin Wood, Blaine Cory, Brent Owens, Connor Wakim, Nate Schank, Bryant Bell, Danny Faria Jr., Logan Calderwood, Hunter Maddox, Grant Sexton, Jake Swanson.
