DILLSBURG, Pa. — Sprint car racer Anthony Macri will be out of action indefinitely following an accident Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway.
Macri was transported to a local hospital following the crash and his family-owned team, Macri Motorsports, updated his condition on Saturday afternoon via social media.
“Following last night’s incident at Williams Grove Speedway, Anthony was transported to the hospital for evaluation,” the team’s post said. “He has been diagnosed with compression fractures of T4 and T5. At this time, there is no confirmed timeline for his return to competition, as he will undergo medical evaluation and follow-up care.
“Anthony and the entire team would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the support, messages, thoughts, and prayers received. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
Macri had already won three races this season, including two with the World of Outlaws.
