ANDERSON, Ind. — Event promoters Jim Hanks and David Sink have announced their intentions to promote a select few 410 winged pavement sprint car invitational races in 2027.
The details and location of these invitational events will be announced in the coming weeks.
The duo considered becoming event promoters at the urging of several drivers and car owners who have expressed their concern for the limited number of 410 winged pavement sprint car events in the Midwest.
There were only four unrestricted 410 winged pavement sprint car events held in the Midwest in 2026, and all of these were contested in the state of Michigan. Indiana and Ohio were left dark.
The duo has no intentions of creating a traveling series but rather promoting select weekend invitational events.
Hanks is no stranger to pavement sprint car racing. He is a former car owner who fielded entries in the USAC National Sprint Car Series, Silver Crown Series, and several winged asphalt sprint car events with the now defunct HOSS and AVSS groups.
Hanks created the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series in 2010 before selling it prior to the current racing season due to health reasons.
During his one-year hiatus, his rehabilitation, has returned him to good health.
Sink is a current pavement sprint car journalist, photographer, and statistician. He manages the social media platform Pavement Pounders and is responsible for the National Pavement Sprint Car Rankings. He was inducted into the Little 500 Hall of Fame this past May.
Sink’s role in promotion isn’t just in media interests. From 2008-2015 he was part of the ownership of the International Outlaw Figure 8 Series and Winged Outlaw Figure 8 Series. Both were touring late model figure 8 series based in the Midwest.
