TAMPA — Kirk Morgan Racing announced that Chase Cabre will drive for the team alongside Davey Hamilton Jr., both driving the iconic No. 14 winged sprint cars.
Kirk Morgan Racing has shown speed during the first two runnings of the Open Wheel Showdown and Cabre has been a dominant name in every form of racing in which he’s participated.
After doing a test earlier this week, Davey Hamilton Jr. helped put together a deal with KMR to put Cabre in for the Open Wheel Showdown.
“Chase is quite the shoe and comes from a great family. We have one of the best sprint
Car teams out there and we are going to Vegas this year with no other mindset other than parking one of my hot rods in winner’s circle,” said team owner Kirk Morgan. “Davey will still be our main driver but to have Chase in one of my cars I am looking forward to seeing how he does at Open Wheel Showdown.”
“I grew up racing with Chase and this year we started to discuss Open Wheel Showdown
quite a bit and told him I was going to get him a ride,” Hamilton said. “I was putting together a deal with another team for him to drive for but his test honestly impressed me enough to know that I think he’d be a really good teammate and we can help push each other, who knows, I may not make some races next year and I think he would be a really good fit for KMR.”
“I am really excited to get out to the Open Wheel Showdown with Kirk Morgan Racing,” Cabre said. “To say I’m extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity is an understatement. November can’t come soon enough.”
