Armitage Breaks Through At Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — After ending his last two MOWA starts in second and third at Jacksonville Speedway, 2024 champion Will Armitage was determined to cross another win off the list. All it took was a last-lap pass over New Zealand’s Max Guilford.

Guilford, who started from the pole, jumped to the early lead as Joe B. Miller quickly found his way around second-starting Corey Nelson.

With his No. 16 machine glued to the top side of the race track, Guilford paced the field with ease as he worked through lapped traffic. Miller quickly closed in and got within striking distance before being caught up in a turn-three caution that sent him to the tail of the field before retiring early.

On the restart, Guilford held command over the field as Zach Daum and Will Armitage followed in tow. Armitage, who started ninth, was on the heels of Daum and used the bottom groove on the race track to take over the runner up spot on lap 18. Armitage then set his sights on race leader Max Guilford, who was bottled up behind Logan Faucon and Mario Clouser as the field came to the white flag.

Guilford continued to hold the top spot as the field raced down the backstretch as Armitage surged forward to overtake Guilford in turns three and four on the final lap to score his second career MOWA victory.
