INDIANAPOLIS – In only his second start with the Kenyon Midget Series Danny O’Gara scored an impressive win at the Indianapolis Speedrome.
O’Gara started his career with the Kenyon Midget Series with a third place finish at Anderson Speedway and didn’t waste anytime in putting his name among the feature winners.
The son of former IndyCar competitor Sarah Fisher, O’Gara led all 50 laps around the Speedrome bullring winning by more than two-seconds over second place finisher Isaac Johnson.
It marked the second win at the Indianapolis Speedrome where Kyle Hamilton earlier this year put the Peterman Brothers sponsored midget into victory lane.
After finishing second in the first KRJ Racing Products heat race, O’Gara pulled the number one pill in the redraw to start the feature race on the pole position.
After a false start, O’Gara took control of the race from the beginning and was never seriously challenged for the win.
Johnson and Evan Hammond jumped behind O’Gara at the start with point leader Aryton Houk running fourth and Eli Fox in fifth.
Houk and Fox passed Hammond for the third and fourth positions after only five laps.
The running order remained unchanged as the race went green-to-checkers.
Kyle Sheard claimed the K&K Marketing Fast Qualifier honors in the Jeff Hill Trailer Sales midget.
Sheard and Fox posted wins in the KRJ Race Products heat races both competing with the Jeff Hill Trailer Sales team.
Dameron Taylor claimed the Advanced Racing Suspensions Hard Charger honors for advancing two positions.
O’Gara was also named the BHR Rookie of the Race.
Hunter Peri, the leader in the Redline Ace Rookie of the Year battled finished 12th with fellow rookie competitor Seth Tozier coming home in seventh and Aiden Slightom, making his first start finishing eighth.
