CENTER LISLE, N.Y. — Darren Smith keeps on rolling.
Smith captured his second consecutive Dirt Track Digest TV Modified feature event at Thunder Mountain Speedway. He was joined in victory lane by Dalton Herrick in the CRSA Sprint Cars. Jared Green won the DIRTcar Sportsman, Zach Bobbett was back in victory lane with the 600 Sprints, and Sam Hubbard won the 600cc Modifieds.
Jeff Sheely led the opening lap of the 35-lap Dirt Track Digest TV Modified feature event from his front-row starting position.
Sheely kept his No. 38 out in front until lap seven, when Leet was able to get by on the bottom of turns one and two to take the race lead away. Leet continued to work the inside lane after securing the top spot.
As Leet led the way, Smith was busy working his way to the front after starting from the sixth position. Smith was able to work high and low to get by the competition.
Leet entered slower traffic on lap 17, but before it became an issue, the caution was necessary as Alex Payne slowed with issues and stopped in turn four.
When racing resumed, Leet kept the top spot for the moment as Smith moved from fourth into the runner-up position. Two laps later, Smith took the lead with a low-side move in turns three and four.
Once in front, Smith was able to open a gap on Leet and the rest of the field. Smith went on to win his second main event in a row, with Leet having his best finish of the season in second.
Tommy Collins continued his string of good finishes, crossing the line third. Jordan Millard was fourth, with Brett Tonking in fifth.
Dalton Herrick had to work for the 25-lap CRSA Sprint Car A-Main victory, battling for the lead throughout the race. Herrick gave up the top spot on two different occasions but regained the lead each time to secure the win. Billy VanInwegen Jr. came from 11th to finish second, with Tyler Graves third, Zach Sobotka fourth, and Dan Craun fifth.
Jared Green took control on lap 16 and went on to score the 25-lap DIRTcar Sportsman feature victory. Green started 10th and worked his way to the front, with Chance Spoonhower Jr. finishing second, Dominik Albanese third, Cody Jackson fourth, and Matt Brewer rounding out the top five.
Zach Bobbett took the lead on lap six from the sixth starting spot and went on to score the 20-lap 600cc Sprints feature victory. Kyle Pierce finished second after starting eighth, with Kevin Kaiser third, Mary Earley fourth, and polesitter Bill Westlake rounding out the top five.
Samuel Hubbard worked his way from his fifth-place starting spot to score the 20-lap 600cc Modified feature win. Hubbard took the victory over Tom Donahue, who advanced from 10th to finish second. Tyler Talada also made a strong run from 12th to finish third, with Dewain Talada fourth and Justin LaDue rounding out the top five.
