Many Winners In Hawkeye Futurity

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport Speedway raced into the past Saturday for a great night of old-time racing. The track played host to the Mississippi Valley Vintage Race Car Association’s Hawkeye Futurity.

The Hawkeye Futurity featured vintage racecars, including Caged Sprints, Non-Caged Sprints, Midgets, Super Modifieds, Jalopies, and Vintage Late Models. Racers from five states took part in the event.

Winners in vintage classes were Doug Sylvester (Sprint Car), Ben Buchholz (Midget), Michael Hulsing (Super Modified), Austin Honts (Midwest Jalopies), and Dino Rodish (Midwest Vintage Late Model).

In addition to the vintage racing classes, the Koehler Electric Street Stocks also took to the race track. In their feature, Scotty Pratt stole the early lead away from Cary Brown. Pratt survived a couple of restarts and a late race charge from Kyle Anderson to take the win. Cary Brown finished third behind Anderson. Chevy Andreatta and Jake Lund rounded out the top five.

In addition, Powder Puff & Mechanic races in Davenport weekly stock car classes were held. Lexi Pratt took the honors in the Powder Puffs, while Dana Wells won the Mechanic race.
