MORRIS, Ill. — Boris Jurkovic returned to victory lane at the Grundy County Speedway Friday night, winning the Feece Oil-sponsored Ed Hoffman 111 Classic super late model stock car special.
The race was the fifth leg of the speedway’s Six Pack Summer Challenge and was held in honor of the late Ed Hoffman – a six-time Grundy late model champion and longtime Chicagoland racer.
A winner in both local and national late model action including the historic Winchester 400 at Indiana’s Winchester Speedway, Jurkovic, a Chicago area native who now calls Florida home, wheeled his Chevy No.53 to the checkered flag, holding off fastest qualifier D.J. Weltmeyer for the win.  Involved in a very serious crash in Michigan in 2021, Jurkovic has returned to competition on a more frequent level this year.
Enjoying a $5,000-plus payday, Jurkovic had a 0.200-second advantage over Weltmeyer at the finish line of the third-mile paved oval.  10-time Grundy champion Eddie Hoffman, whose dad was honored in the evening’s race, finished a close third, followed by Anthony Danta, Keith Tolf and two-time Grundy titlist Ricky Baker, who led the track’s six-pack standings before Friday’s contest.  A field of 19 started the race.
Chad Bayuk and Kristi Preisler shared victory honors in twin 20-lap feature races for street stock competitors while first-time winner Zoey Czubak and Eddie Ligue were victors in twin 20-lap Crown Vic division main events.
