SEALED UNDER PRESSURE: Bobby Pierce Wins USA Nationals

The winningest dirt late model racer in the country this season, Bobby Pierce was not happy with his race car. So unhappy in fact that he opted to roll out his backup car for the final night of the USA Nationals at Wisconsin’s Cedar Lake Speedway.

It turned out to be a $100,000 decision.

Pierce started his familiar No. 32 late model from 10th position with 100 laps to get to the front.

He was sixth after an opening 54-lap green-flag run. But as several incidents and multiple restarts marked the middle stages of the race, Pierce took advantage to move to second spot.

Pierce used a restart on lap 67 to blast around Nick Hoffman for the lead. He led the final 33 laps to win the USA Nationals for the third time and collect the $100,000 winner’s check.
