WWTR IndyCar Series Race Moves To June

MADISON, Ill. — World Wide Technology Raceway officials confirmed that the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 for the NTT IndyCar Series will move from August to June 14-15 next season.

Tickets went on sale Thursday for the event that will be run on Father’s Day weekend.

The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline will be held June 14-15 and joined again by Indy NXT by Firestone and USAC Silver Crown as support events for the two-day weekend.

Saturday’s on-track activities will include practice and qualifying for all three series followed by the Silver Crown race in the evening. The race will be increased to 66 laps (82.5 miles) as part of World Wide Technology Raceway’s celebration of the Centennial of Route 66.

Sunday’s schedule will open with the Indy NXT by Firestone’s 80-lap/100-mile OUTFRONT Showdown and culminate with the ninth annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500 NTT IndyCar Series race. The day also will include the Vintage Indy exhibition.

The 260-lap IndyCar event will be the first oval race after the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Josef Newgarden won last Saturday’s running of the event.
