INDIANAPOLIS — All 33 cars have officially qualified for the 110th Indianapolis 500 Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but next up is the Fast 12.
Felix Rosenqvist of Meyer Shank Racing was the fastest qualifier in the 33-car session with a four-lap average of 232.599 mph in the No. 60 Sirius XM Honda. Team Penske’s David Malukas was next with a four-lap average of 231.813 mph in the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet.
Conor Daly of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing was third with four laps at 231.744 mph in the No. 23 followed by Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin’s 231.623 mph in the No. 2 Shell Chevrolet. Rinus VeeKay of Juncos Hollinger Racing was fifth with a four-lap average of 231.591 in the No. 76 Chevrolet to round out the top five.
The rest of the Fast 12 include sixth place Alexander Rossi (231.580 mph) in the No. 20 Chevrolet, rookie Caio Collet in the No. 4 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet with a four-lap average of 231.419 mph, Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing in the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda at 231.411 mph, Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren in the No. 5 Chevrolet at 231.248 mph, AJ Foyt Racing Santino Ferrucci’s 231.224 mph in the No. 14 Chevrolet, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou’s 231.155 mph in the No. 10 DHL Honda and teammate Kyffin Simpson’s No. 8 Honda with a four-lap average of 231.095 mph.
Two-time Indianapolis 500 winning driver Takuma Sato was bumped out of the Fast 12 and will start 13th with four laps at 230.995 mph in the No. 75 Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Positions 13-33 are set with the last row featuring two rookies and Sting Ray Robb, the slowest qualifier with a four-lap average of 226.572 mph. Dennis Hauger, a rookie for Dale Coyne Racing, starts 31st and Jacob Abel started 32nd.
Abel attempt to qualify for last year’s Indy 500 but was the only driver bumped out of the race.
