Grid Penalties For Three IndyCar Teams

STEAM CORNERS, Ohio — Three NTT IndyCar Series teams have been assessed six-position grid penalties to be served during Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the 2025 Civic Hybrid at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The penalties to the No. 11 Chip Ganassi Racing (Marcus Armstrong), No. 30 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (Pietro Fittipaldi) and No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing (Felix Rosenqvist) are for unapproved engine changes following the June 27 team test at Iowa Speedway.

The teams were in violation of:

Rule 16.1.2.3.2. A fifth (5th) Engine is eligible to earn Engine Manufacturer points if a Full Season Entrant has completed the Full Season Entrant Engine Mileage with its first four engines. Otherwise, a fifth or more Engine does not earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Unapproved Engine change-out.

According to Rule 16.1.6.1.2., the penalty is a six-position starting grid penalty on road and street course events and nine positions at oval events and will be served at the series’ next event, which is Sunday’s race at Mid-Ohio.
