TULSA, Okla. — Cannon McIntosh would use a mid-race restart to take the lead and never look back in earning his 31st career feature win while battling at Port City Raceway with the POWRi National and West Midget Leagues in Night One of the 21st annual Charlene Meents Memorial.
Beginning the feature field after a quick shower to help the racing surface would find the high-point qualifier Kale Drake and Michael Faccinto led the field to the green flag, with Kale Drake gaining the initial advantage on the opening thirteen laps.
Using a mid-race restart to perfection, McIntosh would take the top spot over utilizing the speedy high-line around Port City Raceway with action aplenty filling out behind the leader as Kale Drake, Trey Marcham, Ethan Mitchell, and Gavin Miller tried to stay within striking distance.
Holding steady over a restart with eighth laps remaining, Cannon McIntosh would not be denied in claiming his fifth win of the season as leader of one lap, Trey Marcham, would place an impressive runner-up, with Ethan Mitchell rounding out the podium placements.
“We had a good start on the top where the momentum was, and it was key to picking up the win,” McIntosh said. “Great to get our footing under us early tonight as we knew what we had to do all night to execute the victory. Fly out to California tomorrow to get into the sprint car, but tonight we celebrate the win in the midget.”
Keeping pace with the front all event, previous night winner Michael Faccinto finished fourth, with Gavin Miller fifth.
