JEREZ, Spain — Alex Marquez claimed a stunning victory, winning the Estrella Galicia Grand Prix of Spain for the second consecutive year.
The BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider slotted into third at the start of the race while his brother Marc Marquez put his Lenevo Ducati into the lead and Marco Bezzecchi rode second for Aprilia Racing.
Alex Marquez made his way past Bezzecchi in turn nine. A lap later, he passed Marc Marquez for the lead.
Marc Marquez crashed later on lap two, ending his race and solidifying his brother’s spot at the front of the field.
Alex Marquez led the rest of the way with Bezzecchi, the series point leader, taking the second spot on the podium.
Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) earned P3 to jump up to third in the standings.
Jorge Martin was fourth for Aprilia with Ai Ogura fifth for Trackhouse Racing.
