ROSSBURG, Ohio — Brent Marks and Corey Day were winners during Wednesday night’s Double Down Duels at Eldora Speedway.
The twin 25-lap features paid $12,000 to win each and were the first steps toward setting the lineup for Thursday night’s Jokers Jackpot, which will pay $100,000 to win. The events are sanctioned by Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing.
Race One
Marks, who won Monday’s High Limit race at Fremont Speedway, started on the pole and led every lap. One restart, on lap 24, forced Marks to hold off charging Tyler Courtney and Kyle Larson on the final lap, but the Pennsylvania hot shoe was up to the task.
Courtney raced from fifth to finish second, while Larson romped from ninth on the grid to finish third. Rico Abreu and Sheldon Haudenschild rounded out the top five.

Race Two
Giovanni Scelzi and polesitter Emerson Axsom waged war during the opening laps of the nightcap, trading slide jobs at nearly every turn.
Scelzi eventually took control, but Day was on the charge from sixth starting position. Day moved into the lead on lap 11 and led the remainder of the distance.
Scelzi finished second, with Justin Peck, Parker Price-Miller and Carson Macedo completing the top five.
With the every lap matters points format in place, drivers earned points for qualifying, heat races and the main event, with the top 12 points earners on the night locked into Thursday night’s main event.

Thursday
As a result, Larson and Day will share the front row for the Jokers Jackpot with Larson earning 584 points to Day’s 583.
Abreu, Courtney and Marks will start in positions three through five.
Logan Schuchart, who won The Million at Eldora several years ago, will start sixth.
The final six drivers locked into the main event are Justin Peck, Carson Macedo, Sheldon Haudenschild, Giovanni Scelzi, Parker Price-Miller and Brady Bacon.
The rest of the field will have to race through heats in order to fill the final 12 starting positions.
Such notable drivers as Aaron Reutzel, Anthony Macri, Kerry Madsen, Chase Dietz, Donny Schatz, Brad Sweet, Brian Brown, David Gravel and Ryan Timms are among those on the outside looking in.
