High Limit Notes: Four-Race Week Visits Indiana, Ohio and New York

KOKOMO, Ind. — Four races in three states over six days highlights a busy week for Kubota High Limit Racing.

It starts with a pair of Roto-Rooter Midweek Series events with Driven2SaveLives Monday MAYhem at Kokomo Speedway on Monday and includes the series’ first visit to Ohio’s Fremont Speedway on May 14.

When the weekend comes, New York is the focus with stops at Ransomville Speedway and Utica-Rome Speedway on the docket.

With 10 races complete in 2025, the championship chase has tightened with Tyler Courtney, Rico Abreu, Brent Marks and Aaron Reutzel able to gain ground on Brad Sweet following misfortune last week.

MONTH OF MAY

Racers race and Kyle Larson is the ultimate racer. After winning Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Kansas Speedway in dominant fashion, Larson will climb back in Paul Silva’s No. 57 sprint car for another Kubota High Limit Racing event at Kokomo Speedway and then his second attempt at the Indianapolis 500 officially begins with the Arrow McLaren on Tuesday afternoon.

All told, the Elk Grove, California, native will be turning completive laps in a race car on 19 of the 31 days this May.

Larson’s first love – sprint car racing – will bookend his attempt at “The Double,” with hopes of completing all 1,100 miles of the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on May 25. Before it begins, he’ll run Kokomo Speedway on May 12 and after it ends, he’ll be back on the dirt at Lawrenceburg Speedway on May 30.

INDIANA’S BADDEST

High Limit returns to Kokomo Speedway for the third year on Monday night. The Driven2SaveLives Monday MAYhem comes highly anticipated as it launches the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series, promotes the importance of organ donation and comes with a $20,000-to-win, $1,500-to-start purse.

The previous two High Limit events at the Kokomo, Indiana bullring were won by Hoosier State natives with Monrovia, Indiana gasser Justin Peck beating Kyle Larson in 2023 and Indianapolis star Tyler Courtney topping Buddy Kofoid in 2024.

ACTION BUILT

On Wednesday, the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series continues in Ohio as Kubota High Limit Racing visits Fremont Speedway for the first time. It’s a place that many High Rollers haven’t raced in several years with only two full-timers – Tyler Courtney and Aaron Reutzel – owning victories there with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

The technical short track is known for producing action that favors the experienced local competitors and could produce a first-time winner with Kubota High Limit Racing. Drivers such as Craig Mintz, Cap Henry, Kalib Henry, Zane DeVault, Chris Andrews, D.J. Foos and Darin Naida are among the many to keep an eye on come Wednesday night.

NOT STICKY

When the weekend rolls around, Kubota High Limit Racing is heading to “The Empire State” with a pair of New York dates on the schedule. The northeast is known for their especially slick surfaces requiring slower, steadier, and smoother finesse from competitors – another archetype that allows the local studs to shine.

On Friday, Ransomville Speedway joins the calendar for the first time with High Limit, hosting their first National Sprint Car race since Aaron Reutzel won with the World of Outlaws in 2021. On Saturday, the series goes back Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY – where Rico Abreu topped Justin Peck last year.

SHAKEUP

A weekend in the heartland of America brought major changes to the top of the championship standings with Kubota High Limit Racing.

A Lap 10 scrum on Friday night at Lakeside Speedway is what caused it all, as title-controller Brad Sweet was left with nowhere to go in Rico Abreu and Kerry Madsen’s dustup – resulting in his first DNF with the series.

After Friday, it was only 80-points that separated the entire top-five contenders. More dramatics followed on Saturday, however, as frontrunners Rico Abreu and Aaron Reutzel encountered their own troubles, which also resulted in DNF marks at Tri-City Speedway.

Sweet’s lead is now at his car number with the Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 ahead by 49 points.

The closest contender remains Tyler Courtney and the Clauson-Marshall Racing No. 7bc with Brent Marks’ No. 71 points behind.
