Hamilton Jr., Legacy Autosport Split

PITTSBORO, Ind. — USAC Silver Crown driver Davey Hamilton Jr. and Legacy Autosport have parted ways, Hamilton announced Monday morning.

Hamilton and Legacy scored a victory at World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois last year.

Hamilton was originally slated to compete full-time this year in the USAC Silver Crown series for Legacy Autosport, with sponsor McGinty Conveyors, Inc. onboard.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to contend for wins and drive the No. 19 to victory last year,” Hamilton said in a statement on social media. “Unfortunately decisions were made by the team during the offseason that jeopardized my ability to be successful and thus do not align with the priorities of my partners or myself.”

Hamilton continued, stating, “I’m thankful that McGinty Conveyors is still with me after this decision and we look forward to what the future holds.”

Hamilton has seen success and several championships in pavement sprint car racing. He also has seen success as an event promoter, starting the Open Wheel Showdown, which ran its inaugural weekend in Las Vegas last year.
