ELKHART LAKE, Wis. — Evagoras Papasavvas secured his second-career pole at Road America in Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) competition on Friday.
Setting a fastest lap of 2:03.619, Papasavvas (No. 71 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) bettered 2025 Road America podium-finisher Brady Golan (No. 40 Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) by just 0.153 seconds. Starting on row two, Cooper Shipman (No. 10 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) will line up next to Christian Bogle (No. 7 Pelican Energy Consultants / Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3), while Harbir Dass (No. 9 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) will round out the top five in row three.
The top-five qualifiers were all separated by less than a second.
In the Masters Cup Championship, Whitney Strickland (No. 21 TF Companies / Hillenburg Motorsports Ligier JS F3) beat Kevin Janzen (No. 24 US Power Group/Data Center Solutions / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) to lead the class in qualifying.
With one practice Friday afternoon, Golan topped the speed charts, while Shipman trailed by just 0.419 seconds. Meanwhile, Papasavvas ranked third.
Formula 4
Gastón Irazú secured his first Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) pole at Road America on Friday afternoon.
Setting a fast lap of 2:15.248, Irazú (No. 27 Elia Group / Baly / Canal 4 / Ancap / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F422) held a 0.386-second advantage over the rest of the field.
Six-time F4 U.S. podium finisher, Clemente Huerta Raab (No. 17 Velox USA / Speed Factory Ligier JS F422) will line up on the front row alongside the reigning Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) champion, Irazú.
Quickest from the Kiwi Motorsport camp, rookie Zach Fourie (No. 15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) will start third, with teammate and current points leader, Caleb Campbell (No. 68 Steele Auto Group / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422), lining up fourth. Luca Day (No. 54 Zimperium / Momentum Motorsports Ligier JS F422) will round out the top-five starters.
Quickest in practice, Huerta Raab held a 0.364-second gap over the field. Irazú claimed second, Campbell third and Fourie fourth, with just under a second separating the group.
Ligier Junior
For the second consecutive event, Beckham Jacir secured the Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) pole, topping the Gen. 1 Class charts with a 2:21.316 lap.
Wisconsin native Ava Hanssen (No. 26 One Powersports / Chiropractic Center of Elkhorn / NGK / Badger Mats Ligier JS F4) captured second, marking her career-best qualifying effort in the Gen. 1 class. Just 0.171 seconds separated the two drivers, who both returned to the series for a sophomore season.
In the Ligier JFC Gen. 2 class, Jack Speth (No. 07 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) initially posted the quickest time, but a technical violation resulted in the deletion of all his lap times, leading him to start from the rear of the field.
With practice earlier in the day, Hanssen topped the charts for the Gen. 1 Class, bettering Jacir (No. 7 Stonica / Bell / OMP / P1DOKS / Behind the Wheel / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) by 0.397 seconds. Meanwhile, Speth was the quickest of the Gen. 2 cars.
