KOKOMO, Ind. — With over 150 race cars in the pits, the Kokomo Speedway saw a lot of racing Saturday as “Night Two” of the 19th annual Kokomo Klash was held.
Chase Burda (super late models), Bryce Shidler (modifieds), Kody Conner (street stocks) and Chris Hillman Jr. (super hornets) were feature winners during a busy evening, more than 40 races, at the quarter-mile dirt oval.
Burda, the versatile 20-year-old speedster from Lapeer, Mich., captured the 25-lap super late models headliner. Burda, who has competed in late models on both dirt and pavement and in dirt modified action, raced from his pole starting spot in the 20-car field to the checkered flag ahead of Jason Ferguson, Chase Osterhoff, Braiden Keller, Justin White and Dustin Nobbe.
Jr Hotovy and Scott Boyd Jr. were the division’s ‘B’ feature winners.
Shidler, from Crawfordsville, Ind., won the 25-lap feature race for modifieds, defeating Bradley Jameson, Todd Sherman, Dylan Woodling, Scott Orr and Brad Eitniear. Shidler, this year’s champion at Indiana’s Shadyhill Speedway, started on the outside of the front row of the 20-car field.
Scott Martin and Garrett Rons were ‘B’ feature winners for the modifieds.
Conner, of Wheatfield, Ind., claimed top honors in the 25-lap street stock chase. Conner finished ahead of Ron Wilkes, Kory Glassburn, Reece Novak, Austin Hunter and Kyle Barger.
Bradley Roundtree won the 10-lap street stock ‘B’ feature.
Hillman was the winner of the 25-lap super hornets (four-cylinder) main event. Hillman, from Mooresville, Ind., came home with first place honors ahead of Josh Gambin, Gary Gumm, Mike Currier, Conner Garrison and Ryan Okuley.
With 54 entries on hand for the super hornets competition, three ‘B’ features were held with Zachary Yost, Scott Harrington and Dino Antonelli claiming victories.
