Friesen Doubles Down In All-Tech STSS Run

LAKE CITY, Fla. — Stewart Friesen remained on a roll with the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By Sunoco, winning the second night of the Sunshine Swing at All-Tech Raceway in dominant fashion.

The Sprakers, N.Y., driver led from start to finish in the 35-lap main STSS Modified event for a $5,000 top prize.

Thursday’s event was Race No. 200 for the series, which got its start on April 6, 2014, at N.Y.’s Orange County Fair Speedway.

Friesen’s triumph brought his win total on the STSS to 50.

“This series has been really good to us since the beginning,” Friesen said. “It’s really cool to be here in victory lane for number 200.”

Friesen launched off the pole after the Beyea Custom Headers Redraw and blistered the Sunshine State half-mile oval and 26-car starting field.

“It (the car) was good,” Friesen said. “It’s just such a challenging track to find a balance. We got some clean air there and I put together the best laps I could.”

Tanner Van Doren overcame a battle with Matt Sheppard to place in the runner-up position.

“I’ll take it,” Van Doren said. “Running with these guys isn’t easy. A lot of them are full-time guys, they do it for a living. I still have to go to school every day. That’s the hard part.”

Sheppard drove from seventh to finish third.

Danny Bouc and Alex Payne completed the front five.

Logan Watt raced from third on the grid to win the Sportsman feature, beating 12th-starting Michael Ballestero to the finish.

The finish:
