ROSEBURG, Ore. — Kevin Williamson completed a remarkable comeback to capture his first career Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified Wild West Speedweek victory during the seventh round of the tour at Douglas County Dirtrack.
Washington’s Devon Reed led the opening lap before two-time defending Wild West Speedweek champion and 2024 track champion Bricen James made a daring move exiting turn four to seize the lead.
James entered the night having won the previous three Speedweek Modified events at the three-tenths-mile oval dating back to 2023. Following a lap four caution, Matt Sanders, winner of the previous night’s feature at Coos Bay Speedway and the last two Wild West Speedweek IMCA Northern SportMod championships, began applying pressure.
Sanders eventually took command and looked poised for a second straight victory. He encountered lapped traffic on lap 14 before cautions for debris on lap 26 and another stoppage on lap 31 set up a four-lap sprint to the finish.
On the final restart, Sanders found himself under attack from reigning National Rookie of the Year Ethan Killingsworth and defending DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region, Oregon State, and Douglas County Dirtrack champion Kevin Williamson.
Williamson completed a dramatic last-lap pass to secure his first career Wild West Speedweek Modified victory. The Coburg driver started 16th and overcame a flat tire that forced him to the pit area during a caution period before charging back through the field.
The victory was his seventh DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region win of the season and second straight triumph at Douglas County Dirtrack.
Sanders finished second, while Killingsworth, the defending Southern Oregon Speedway track crown winner, advanced from 18th to third. Grey Ferrando, the 2017 Cottage Grove Speedway and 2024 Cocopah Speedway champion, was fourth. Brett Muth delivered a strong performance from 20th to fifth after missing his heat race earlier in the evening.
Tyler Pagel took control at the start of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature and never looked back.
Several cautions slowed the race, but each time Pagel executed flawless restarts and quickly rebuilt his advantage. The Madras driver was never seriously challenged on his way to his first career Wild West Speedweek victory and first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region triumph of the season.
Cody Humphrey finished second, while Nevada’s Jesse Gonzalez crossed the line third.
Ricky Ashley, aboard the T.R. Points Trucking-owned No. 8511, led the early stages of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature.
A series of cautions near the midpoint of the race kept the field bunched together. Two-time defending Oregon State champion Trevor Points moved into the lead on lap 14, but Ashley remained within striking distance.
After another caution, Ashley, Points, and California’s Buddy Kniss became locked in a three-car battle for the top spot. Ashley regained the lead and appeared headed for victory before a red-flag incident set up one final restart.
Kniss threw everything he had at Ashley in the closing laps, but the Thurston driver held on to win by just .097 seconds. The victory was Ashley’s first career Wild West Speedweek triumph and third overall win of 2026, with all three coming at the Douglas County Dirtrack.
Kniss settled for second, followed by Points in third.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV.
