Marquez Fires Winning Shot In Czech Republic

BRNO, Czech Republic — Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez fired a shot across the bow of the competition Sunday, with a monstrous victory in the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Czechia.

Marquez rode his Lenovo Ducati to a .4-second triumph over Japanese rider Ai Ogura, who rides for SuperFile Trackhouse. Marquez burst back into championship contention with the victory.

Marquez was 102 points behind point leader Marco Bezzecchi after the Italian Grand Prix but after his victory Sunday, trails by only 40 points.

Helping Marquez cut into that lead was the fact Bezzecchi was suspended from Sunday’s race after an altercation with an official on Saturday.

Francesco Bagnaia finished third on the second Ducati. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) came home fourth, with Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) fifth.
