Big Names And Big Money At IHRA Triple Crown Go

HEBRON, Ohio — More than 160 racers are registered to compete at this weekend’s much-anticipated opening round of the IHRA Triple Crown event at Darana Raceway, Hebron (formerly National Trail Raceway). A record purse is on the line, with $150,000 going to Nitro class winners and $1 Million up for grabs in each eligible class (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Mod, Mountain Motor Pro Stock, IHRA Pro Stock) for winning all three rounds of the series.

Top Fuel standouts scheduled to compete include Scott Palmer, Shawn Reed, Mike Salinas, Jasmine Salinas, Krista Baldwin, Gary Pritchett, Spencer Massey and former European champion Lex Joon.

Former World Champions Del Worsham and Dale Creasy Jr. lead a stack field of Funny Car competitors which include Bobby Bode, Jack Wyatt, Jeff Diehl, Jon Capps, Paul Lee and Terry Haddock.

Like all IHRA events – race fans will find no shortage of action on and off the track. Other classes on the card for the weekend include Fuel Altered, Nitro Harley, Nostalgia Pro Stock, Top Fuel Motorcycle and the fan-favorite Hemi Shootout. IHRA’s signature Ferris Wheel will be present, as well as a free IHRA Triple Crown Street Party at Buckeye Lake Thursday, and the thrilling “Bulls and Burnouts” bull fighting exhibition Friday night.

Nothing beats the excitement of being there in person to experience 12,000-horsepower, fire-breathing, Nitro Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars rocketing down the track over 300 mph. From the ground-shaking launches to the flames erupting from the headers, there is simply nothing else like it in motorsports.

For fans who can’t make it in person, the event will be broadcast live beginning with qualifying Friday morning at 10:00am ET on SPEED SPORT 2, and finally qualifying Friday afternoon at 4:30pm ET on SPEED SPORT 1. Eliminations are set to begin at 10:00am ET on SPEED SPORT 2 and LIVE finals coverage beginning at 2:00pm ET on SPEED SPORT 1.
