Niece To Enter CARS Tour With Matt Gould

SALISBURY, N.C. — Niece Motorsports, an organization with a race-winning pedigree in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will make its zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Series debut this week at Caraway Speedway.

North Carolina’s Matt Gould will drive the No. 4 J.F. Electric / DQS Solutions & Staffing Chevrolet Camaro for the team. Connor Hall will serve as his crew chief for the 125-lap event at the gritty 0.455-mile short track located in Sofia, N.C.

The 20-year-old Gould is a second-generation driver who has been a part of Niece Motorsports for several years.

In addition to his driving efforts, Gould is employed as a fabricator and mechanic at the race shop. His father, Phil Gould, is the organization’s Director of Competition and crew chief for the No. 45 NCTS team.

Gould has won numerous feature races at Orange County Speedway, Florence Motor Speedway, and Hickory Motor Speedway, primarily driving for his family-owned team. He made his CARS Tour debut at Caraway in 2024 and has also competed in four NCTS races over the span of the last two seasons.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity to drive for Niece Motorsports in the team’s first CARS Tour race at Caraway,” said Gould. “Late Model racing is a passion of mine, but it’s always been a side project for my dad and I. To have a fully-dedicated team built around us is something that I have been very appreciative of, and we couldn’t do it without having the support from Greg Fowler, Josh Morris, Jason Wilson, and Cody Efaw. Our J.F. Electric / DQS Chevy looks incredible, and I want to go out there and make everyone proud this weekend.”

Niece Motorsports’ venture into the CARS Tour is not a departure from its NCTS focus, but rather is viewed as an enticing avenue and means for driver development. The team’s Late Model Stock Car program will enter in select CARS Tour races throughout the season, among other marquee races.

Hall has built up a large following through racing in the series, and can attest to its competitive nature after contending for championships on a regular basis. As the architect behind the LMSC program, Hall looks to grow in his new role within the team.

“I’m excited for the race this weekend and am looking forward to seeing how our car will fare against the other teams,” said Hall. “The CARS Tour is one of the most challenging short track series in the country, and the level of competition that’s out there is through the roof. We had a chance to shake the car down a couple of times with LP (Little Phil), and I’ve been pretty impressed with his consistency. All of us here have poured our hearts and souls into this car from the first day the chassis showed up, so to finally see its completion has been very rewarding for us. Hopefully our J.F. Electric / DQS Chevy has speed on race day.”
