MARNE, Mich. — Teenager Tristan McKee continued to rack up victories in big races on Wednesday night.
The 16-year-old stock car driver earned $40,000 for winning the Battle At Berlin, which was part of the UARA championship schedule.
McKee was the fast qualifier, but drew the No. 8 inversion and steadily worked his way forward.
However, McKee found himself in the top five behind several veterans as the laps were winding down. Evan Shotko surrendered the lead to Bubba Pollard on a lap-231 restart and several laps later had a right-front tire let got, setting up a 10-lap sprint to the checkered flag.
Pollard led McKee on the restart, but Pollard washed up the track with six laps remaining and McKee scooted past to take the lead. From there, he was unheaded.
“It’s awesome to win at Berlin,” he said. “Super tough track, but all this goes to my crew, all the guys. We knew we had really good race pace like I said earlier, so the car was phenomenal.”
Pollard finished second, with Cup Series regular Carson Hocevar third.
Ty Majeski and Boris Jurkovic completed the top five.
