SANFORD, N.C. — Peterson Racing announced that short track legend Lee Pulliam has joined the organization for a full-time effort in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
An all-time great late model stock car driver, Pulliam will pilot the team’s No. 87 Chevrolet beginning with the 2027 season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.
“I couldn’t be any prouder and more excited to be given this opportunity,” stated Pulliam. “So many people have helped me get to this moment in my career and believed in me along the way. This proves that hard work and determination is still rewarded today. Big thanks to Doug (Peterson) for the opportunity to do this together. I have dreamt of this moment ever since I could walk. Racing has always been in my blood, and I’ve dedicated my entire life to the sport.”
Pulliam is a four-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion and one of the most accomplished short track racers of his generation.
Pulliam’s accolades include two victories in the prestigious ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway as well as six consecutive wins in the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway.
In addition to his accomplishments behind the wheel, he has built a successful racing organization, Lee Pulliam Performance, and played an important role in developing the next generation of racing talent such as Corey Heim and Brenden “Butterbean” Queen.

Pulliam will pilot the No. 87 Chevrolet for the upcoming events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October and Martinsville Speedway on October 31.
