WELCOME, N.C. — Colin Braun is coming back to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and aiming for victory.
Fresh off a strong ninth-place finish in the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in February, Braun will climb behind the wheel of Kaulig Racing’s No. 25 Ram 1500 on July 11 at Lime Rock Park as part of Ram’s innovative Free Agent Driver Program.
“Racing at Lime Rock Park feels special, because of its deep history and pure road course challenge,” Braun said. “It’s exciting to see the Truck Series compete here and add another chapter to this track’s legacy. I enjoyed racing with the Kaulig team in St. Petersburg and look forward to joining them again. We’re going there to compete for the win.”
The 37-year-old Ovalo, Texas, native launched his professional career with impressive sports car success, scoring a class podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2006 at just 17 years old. He made the jump to stock cars in 2007 under a Roush Fenway Racing development deal, quickly earning Truck Series Rookie of the Year honors, multiple poles — including a standout at Daytona — and his lone series victory at Michigan International Speedway in 2009.
After a stint in the Xfinity Series, he returned to endurance racing and became one of IMSA’s brightest stars.
Braun has since built an elite résumé: three WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles (2014, 2015, 2022), more than two dozen wins, four Rolex 24 at Daytona triumphs — including an overall GTP class victory in 2023 — plus Asian Le Mans Series honors and class wins at both Le Mans and Spa.
At St. Petersburg, Braun started 16th and methodically worked his way up through the field, moving into the top 10 with 15 laps remaining. It was his 24th top-10 finish of his Truck Series career and his first top-10 finish since Michigan in 2011, where he also finished in ninth place.
The Free Agent Driver Program marks Ram’s high-profile return to NASCAR after a 13-year hiatus. The initiative puts a rotating cast of proven veterans, rising stars and top available talent behind the wheel of the No. 25 Ram 1500 each week.
The star-studded lineup has already featured three-time Cup champion Tony Stewart at Daytona, along with Jamie McMurray, Ty Dillon, Corey LaJoie, Travis Pastrana, Parker Kligerman, Clint Bowyer, A.J. Allmendinger and Carson Ferguson. Ryan Newman will race the No. 25 at North Wilkesboro on July 18.
