MOTEGI, Japan — Francesco Bagnaia won Sunday’s Motul Grand Prix of Japan at Twin Ring Motegi, but Marc Marquez stole the headlines.
Marquez rode his Ducati to a second-place finish and secured his seventh MotoGP world championship. The title came 2,184 days after his sixth championship.
“I don’t want to look back; I just want to enjoy the moment,” Marquez said. “It’s true it’s been tough — super tough — but now I feel peace within myself. I made a big mistake in my career by coming back from injury too soon, and I fought, fought, fought… and now I’ve managed to win again. I feel at peace.”
Marquez’s teammate, Bagnaia took the victory from the pole.
Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) got back on the podium for the first time since 2021, and gave Honda a home podium to celebrate on a day for the history books at Motegi.
Fourth went to Marco Bezzecchi as he made big progress, just holding off Franco Morbidelli by the flag.
