Christian Rasmussen earned his first NTT IndyCar Series race on Sunday at the historic Milwaukee Mile. However, it was the way the Ed Carpenter Racing driver won that had everyone talking.
Rasmussen stopped for fresh rubber during a late-race caution flag and restarted sixth, while the top three drivers led by series champion Alex Palou remained on the track. The race restarted on lap 222 and Rasmussen used every groove on the race track to pass his fellow competitors, taking second from Scott McLaughlin on lap 230.
Rasmussen ran down Palou, who led a race-high 199 laps, on lap 235 and powered into the lead. He drove away over the final 15 circuits to win by 1.943 seconds to claim his first IndyCar victory in his 30 th career start.
