PENNGROVE, Calif. — The Chase Johnson Racing Team will return to action this season, while running a limited schedule of events.
Chase Johnson is ready to get the car back on track with a different role in 2026, transitioning to team owner and manager.
“We look forward to being back on track with a mixture of Winged and Non-Winged races this year,” Johnson commented. “Trey Starks will be our primary driver, with others filling in additional dates that will be announced later. We are planning on a limited schedule since I need to remain focused on my recovery, which remains number one for me.”
As noted, Johnson has tabbed Northwest favorite Trey Starks to fill the seat for much of the season.
The Puyallup, Washington, driver is fresh off a fantastic campaign that saw him win 10 races in just over 30 starts, including the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup with NARC 410 and the Fred Brownfield Memorial Skagit 360 Nationals with SCCT.
The initial plan for CJR is to run approximately 12 weekends, which encompasses around 20 shows.
“We want to make sure to keep the seat warm, as my goal is to get back in the race car,” stated Johnson. “This is something that not only myself, but my family has also missed doing. It’s hard not to do the things you have only known to do since you were five years old. It’s been therapeutic for me to be back in the shop working on the car. It’s helped with my hands and fingers getting better, with my strength increasingly building up.”
