Taylor Triumps, Cox Is Wilmot Champion

WILMOT, Wis. — Tim Cox overcame a rough start to score Wilmot Raceway 75th Season Track Championship in the WingLESS Sprints Saturday.

Adam Taylor bounced back from a hard flip a week earlier at LaSalle(IL) Speedway to win his third 20-lap AutoMeter powered by Gandrud Performance Wisconsin WingLESS Sprint Series feature at Wilmot in nine starts this season.

“There’s a lot of people behind the scenes who trashed to get this car back out after our mishap in the heat race,” Cox said, referring to a tangle which saw both he and fast qualifier Bryce Andrews of Kenosha getting collected and hitting the wall coming out of turn four.  “There were a lot of people from a lot of crews who all helped out as we had to replace the front end.  I have to thank all of them along with my regular crew.”

“This is pretty special as I believe I am the oldest driver to ever win a Wilmot championship” said Cox, who turns 65 in two weeks.  “I have to thank BG Wood for offering me this deal to drive this car or I wouldn’t have even been out here this year.  I don’t intend to hang up the helmet any time soon, just don’t let my wife Cheryl hear me say that.”

“I have to congratulate Tim (Cox) on the track championship, and thank my mom and dad, girlfriend, all of our supporters and team who worked to get this car back together after our flip last week,” said Taylor who is the overall Wisconsin WingLESS series championship leader with five point shows remaining on the 2025 slate.

Fahl took the initial lead holding top spot until cautions eight and five laps from the finish kept closing up the gap he had over the field. Taylor, working his way up from the original eight spot on the grid, set his sights on Fahl following the final caution.

Taylor scored the win, his fifth in the Wisconsin WingLESS series and sixth overall having won an American Sprint Car Tour feature as well.  Fahl held off third place finisher Allen Hafford to come across runner-up.

Tyler Kuxhouse finished third which was good enough to push him to second in the final Wilmot standings, 10 points back from Cox.  Bristol’s Chris Klemko, who came into the night 20 behind Cox in second place, finished 7th in the feature ending up third in the season standings 6 points behind Kuxhouse and 16 away from Cox.
