SPEED SPORT, Open Wheel Showdown Ink Long-Term Deal

LAS VEGAS — SPEED SPORT and Only Bulls Open Wheel Showdown promoter Davey Hamilton Jr. have announced a multi-year broadcast agreement that will carry the Open Wheel Showdown across SPEED SPORT’s platforms through 2028.

This announcement ensures fans can watch the richest pavement sprint car event in the world live and on demand, no matter where they are.

The broadcast agreement comes on the heels of the event’s newly extended deal with Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which secures the Open Wheel Showdown’s home at the Bullring at LVMS through the 2028 season. The SPEED SPORT contract mirrors that commitment, aligning the event’s media future with its venue future and giving teams, partners and fans a clear picture of what lies ahead.

The Open Wheel Showdown debuted at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2023. Since then, it has been established as the richest pavement sprint car event in all of motorsports. The annual event features a winged pavement sprint event that pays $50,000 to the winner.

“We’re excited to bring the Open Wheel Showdown to SPEED SPORT for years to come,” said Chris Graner, Executive Director. “This is an event that has earned its place at the top of pavement sprint car racing, and our job is to make sure every fan can experience it. Locking in a multi-year agreement that runs alongside the LVMS extension gives this event the platform and the stability it deserves, and it lets us tell the story of the Open Wheel Showdown the right way.”

This announcement guarantees the event will reach a national audience through at least 2028. It will provide the event with broadcast stability and allow Hamilton Jr. to continue growing it.

“This fits right alongside our LVMS extension and our 2026 date announcement,” explained Hamilton Jr. “Having both the venue and the broadcast future set in stone is great for the growth of the event, our partners and our teams. Pairing up with SPEED SPORT means everyone can not only look forward to this event for many years to come, they can watch it, too.”

Hamilton Jr. made headlines earlier this year when he announced the addition of a $10,000-to-win non-winged sprint car event as part of the November 5-7 event, along with raising the supermodifieds and open wheel modifieds purses to $10,000 to win. Between the winged and non-winged sprint car classes, more than 100 sprint cars are entered for this year’s event, with nearly 300 entries total across all classes.

In addition to winged sprint cars, this year’s event will also include non-winged sprint cars, supermodifieds, modifieds, Legends and Bandoleros, with a total purse of more than $250,000.
