McFadden Is A Three-Time Grand Annual Winner

WARRNAMBOOL, Australia — For the third time in his career, James McFadden is a winner in the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Premier Speedway.

McFadden, piloting the No. wx23 sprint car, started the 40-lap finale in fourth place. Polesitter Jock Goodyer fired off quickly as he stretched his lead in the early going.

However, Jamie Veal swiped the lead away from Goodyer 10 laps in. Looming in the background was McFadden, who swiped second away from Goodyer shortly after.

Contact with a lapped car sent McFadden spinning with 24 laps to go, though was able to continue on the ensuing restart in second.

With 15 laps to go after a back and forth battle with Goodyer and Veal, McFadden found his groove as he rose to the lead. Despite pressure from Goodyer in the closing laps, McFadden hung on to scored the victory in the 52nd running of the famed event.

He celebrated with an emphatic donut in front of the fans.

Behind McFadden, American Cory Eliason placed second ahead of Veal, Brock Hallett and Goodyer.
