KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Thursday night’s Toyota Qualifying Night for the 64th NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals will see the second half the field of 102 in action at Knoxville Raceway.
Drivers will be racing time trials, heats and mains to gather points in an effort to make Saturday night’s 50-lap, $195,000-to-win main event. The talented field includes three Knoxville Nationals winners.
Kyle Larson, who will be looking to become only the third driver (Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz) to win the Nationals in three consecutive years, headlines the field. Larson has driven Paul Silva’s No. 57 to victory in three of the past four runnings of the event.
Brad Sweet, who won in 2018, drives the Kasey Kahne Racing No. 49, while ageless Sammy Swindell, the 1983 winner, will participate in his 49th Nationals.
A winner of multiple track championships and 69 features at Knoxville Raceway, Brian Brown will steer his familiar No. 21 sprint, while Carson Macedo, a winner of eight national tour features this season drives the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41.
Frequent Knoxville Nationals contender Logan Schuchart will be aboard the familiar Shark Racing No. 1s.
Buddy Kofoid, who has won nine races and more than $600,000 this season, will be looking for his first victory at the half-mile track driving Dennis Roth’s No. 83.
Giovanni Scelzi will guide the Clauson Marshall Racing No. 7bc as a replacement for the injured Tyler Courtney.
High Limit Racing regulars Spencer Bayston, Brenham Crouch, Brent Marks and Tanner Thorson hit the track on Thursday night, along with World of Outlaws travelers Cole Macedo, Bill Balog and Skylar Gee.
Steady veterans Daryn Pittman, Kerry Madsen, Brady Bacon, Terry McCarl and Parker Price-Miller add depth to the field.
Cap Henry, a nine-time feature winner this season and Indiana Sprint Week champion Kevin Thomas Jr. are also among Thursday’s flight of racers.
