DAVENPORT, Iowa — With a slight break from the heat, it was the racing action that was red hot at Davenport Speedway Friday night. The crowd was treated to some great racing action and three first-time winners.
Andy Nezworski picked up his second Outhouse and Storage to Go Container Rentals IMCA Late Model feature win of the season. Andy started the 25-lap main from the eighth position. After being mired in fifth for ten laps, Nezworski used a lower line than others and started to move forward.
With five laps to go, Andy got under race leader Dustin Smith. Once Nezworski cleared Smith, he started to pull away. Smith held on for a second-place finish with C.J. Horn taking third. Logan Veloz started ninth and finished fourth while Matt Ryan finished fifth in a race that saw no caution flags.
Shane Paris scored his first Del’s Metal Co. & Midwest Recyclers IMCA Modified victory at Davenport. Paris led all twenty laps of the main after starting in the third position. Tony VonDresky started sixth and drove to second by lap seven, but would advance no further. Mitch Way had an up and down race before finishing third. Blaise Lewis wound up fourth, while Spencer Diercks carried a broken left front to a fifth-place finish.
In the AVS Hydro Excavating IMCA SportMod action, Levi Heath captured his first feature win at Davenport. Levi started the race in tenth and did not see the front of the pack until a lap thirteen restart. Josh Starr, who had led from the drop of the green flag, settled for second. Tyler Maschmann made a late race charge to third. Ryan Reed and Scott Walker rounded out the top five.
The wins keep piling up for Blake Woodruff in the Koehler Electric Outlaw Street Stock division. Woodruff notched his seventh point win and ninth overall victory at Davenport this year.
Randy LaMar collected his fourth Wangelin’s Auto IMCA Hobby Stock victory of the year.
Brad Salisberry captured his first Cantrell’s Towing/ Fred’s Towing/ QC Towing IMCA Mod Lite feature win.
