MADISON, Ill. — For the fourth time this season Jonathan Allegrucci drove his Mustang Cobra Jet into the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Series winner’s circle.
Today in front of a near sell-out crowd at World Wide Technology Raceway, Allegrucci clinched his first Flexjet Factory Stock Shodown Series world championship reaching the final round and then he defeated Scott Libersher in a classic Ford versus Chevrolet final round.
It was Allegrucci’s sixth final round appearance in 2026 and put an exclamation point on a dominant season.
“Winning this is the cherry on top,” said Allegrucci. “The final was so stress-free. It was nice. These guys are awesome. The whole crew has been awesome all season and especially this weekend. We just went up there and made another lap.”
In the final facing Libersher, the reigning U.S. Nationals winner, Allegrucci made a 7.640 second pass to outdistance his opponent’s tire spinning 12.567 second run. To reach his sixth final of the season Allegrucci had to beat Doug Duell. He jumped off the line with his best reaction time of the event, .018 seconds, and he never trailed in the drag race. Right behind Allegrucci, Libersher outran Allegrucci’s closest competitor for the championship Raymond Nash. Had Allegrucci stumbled in the semis Nash could have kept the door open on his own championship chase.
“Scott is a great friend,” said Allegrucci. “I have raced with him forever. I’ll do anything for him. He’ll do anything for me. He beat me at the U.S. Nationals, and I think he has beaten me like four other times. I think I was 0-5 against him. It was nice to get that monkey off our back.”
