DAVENPORT, Iowa — The last Friday in May proved to be an exciting one at Davenport Speedway. The evening included a roll over, a last lap pass for a win, and four first-time winners for 2026.
The Outhouse / Storage to Go – IMCA Late Models saw Mitch Morris capture his first Davenport win of the season. Mitch was locked in a battle early in the race with Blaise Lewis. Unfortunately, Lewis got caught up with a lapped car, bringing out the caution flag and sending him to the back. Morris had to fend off Andy Nezworski in the middle section of the race and Cruz Birkhofer in the final laps, for the win.
Birkhofer finished second followed by Nezworski and Jesse Bodin. Matt Ryan rounded out the top five.
Spencer Diercks finally broke through for a victory in the Midwest Recyclers / Del’s Metal Co. – IMCA Modifieds. Diercks needed every one of the twenty laps in the main to take the win.
Early in the feature, Jason Pershy, Matt Fulton Jr., and Tony VonDresky were mixing it up for the lead. VonDresky was running the top shelf with the others on the bottom. After 10 laps, everyone was running the bottom. That was when Diercks made his move.
Spencer started 12th and was still outside the top five with eight laps to go. He went to the top of the racetrack and quickly started to pass the leaders. On the final lap he was able to drive around Pershy for the lead and the win. Pershy held on for second, finishing ahead of Fulton, VonDresky, and Matt Werner, in that order.
Scotty Pratt was the feature winner in the Koehler Electric – Street Stocks. Pratt last raced and won at Davenport in 2006. Pratt had a back-and-forth battle with Greg Gill throughout the 15-lapper. Pratt finally took the lead for good on lap 12 and didn’t look back.
Gill finished a solid second with Blake Woodruff third. Jake Lund and Donnie Louck were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Bryson Eckrich won his first feature in the Freds Towing / Cantrell Towing / QC Towing – IMCA SportMods. The fifteen-year old racer led 12 of the 15 laps in the feature. At one point near midway, Ben Chapman was able to pass Eckrich for the lead, but Bryson came back on the following lap to grab the top spot for good.
Chapman took second. Tyler Maschmann, Finn Oppenheimer, and Josh Starr completed the first five.
Jacob Ellithorpe captured his second D & K Home Products – IMCA Stock Car feature of the season at Davenport. Jacob led the final 13 laps of the race, en route to the victory.
Jerry Miles finished a distant second followed by Kodey Miles. Andrew Burk took fourth and Greg Gill fifth.
Karter Miles posted his second points win of the season in the Wangelin’s Auto – IMCA Hobby Stocks.
